Air Swimmers are incredibly brilliant radio controlled, helium filled Flying Fish. They stole the show at the 2011 Toy Fair and were voted Best Toy at this years Toy of the Year Awards. How cool is that!!!

airswimmerspost Air SwimmersAir Swimmers were invented by Blake English a young Mechanical Engineer whilst studying at Stamford University. At the present time there are two versions of Air Swimmer, an Air Swimmer Clown Fish and the Air Swimmer Shark. Air Swimmers are controlled by a small, easy to use radio controlled remote control which is powered by a single 9V battery. The body of the Air Swimmers is made from  durable nylon material which is filled with helium and is very light.

Air Swimmers literally swim through the air as there is no propeller or fan. This makes them extremely safe to use in the home.

Because of the gentle action and light weight of the Air Swimmers there won’t be any damage if you bump into a wall or Grandad’s head as he takes his afternoon snooze! In fact you can create your own flying aquarium and be the envy of all the neighbours. If you look at any of the videos the one thing you will notice is that as people look at them they can’t stop smiling. It would appear that everybody loves them.

So how do you operate one of these docile Air Swimmers.airswimmerscontroller Air Swimmers
Each Air Swimmer comes with a small easy to use remote control that is powered by a single 9V battery. The remote controls the tail fin to make the Air Swimmer go left, right or forward and a separate control in the shape of a “cleaner fish”makes the fish go up or dive down. Each fish is on a separate frequency so in actual fact you could fly as many fish at the same time as you wish. There is a further AAA battery located on the fish within the “cleaner fish”. The battery lifetime is normally 4 hours depending on the usage. With this in mind it is probably a good idea to get a set or two of re-chargeable batteries and a charger.

The Air Swimmers come deflated and need to be filled with helium. One top up will keep the fish inflated for up to 2 weeks. To fill the Air Swimmer with helium you can purchase a disposable 30 balloon part cansiter which will be enough for 2 fills with a bit left over if a top up is required. Alternatively you can go to your local florists, card shop, gift store or newsagent and buy a quick squirt!

Air Swimmers are going to be the must have gadget of 2011, we just hope the manufacturers can keep up with demand!
